ABOUT OURSELVES

Welcome to our website and thank you for paying us a visit.  We have been active in the ballroom dancing community for the past 20 years, starting out as students ourselves (yes, there was a time when we were new to ballroom dancing too).  We became 'hooked' very quickly and it was not too long before we decided to take our dancing to the next level, and we enjoyed several successes on the competition circuit.  The next logical step after that, was to turn professional, and we've never looked back.  One of our very first professional assignments, was to take on a two-month contract on board a cruiseship, where we had the opportunity to combine travel with onboard instruction and evening performances (always a challenge when the dance floor refuses to stay flat and still).  That led to several more contracts teaching on cruiseships for a number of lines such as Royal Olympic, Celebrity, Carnival & American Hawaiian.  Now our land-based commitments take priority for much of the year.  We both truly enjoy what we do.  Ballroom dancing is a very social activity, which leads to the formation of many new friendships, while providing a venue for artistic expression and an opportunity to stay fit.

To train to become a professional ballroom dance instructor means an investment of literally thousands of dollars and hours.  This is not something that just anyone can do, or become proficient at quickly.  We have worked very hard at our trade, and are pleased to belong to the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association.  They set a rigorous set of standards which is so important to maintain the quality of ballroom dance instruction, for the benefit of you, the student.  Ongoing professional development is essential as we strive to always better ourselves as instructors.

We are knowledgeable in both American and International styles of ballroom dance, and enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities.  We believe that anyone can learn to dance and that the learning environment should be supportive, fun and non-stressful.  How we dance is just as important as what we dance.  Therefore, the emphasis should not always be on simply learning more and more figures, but focus on technique is vital too.  Anything worth learning, is worth learning correctly, and it is better to do a few things well, than many things poorly.  We all want to look good and feel good on the dance floor.

With classes available six nights a week in many different venues all over the Greater Victoria area, it would not be difficult to find a class that is just right for you.  Courses include our 10-week, well-rounded, Social Ballroom Dance classes, from beginner through to Bronze level and above, as well as a broad selection of 5-week mini-courses which allow you to focus on specific dances.  In addition, practice sessions are available three times a week to help you get more out of your classes and meet others in the community.  Workshops are offered on a regular basis, along with monthly Social Ballroom Dances, to provide you with the opportunity to put to good use what you are learning in class.  We always strive to foster a friendly and fun environment.  Private lessons are also available, should you need a little extra help on the side, or perhaps you have a special occasion approaching.  In particular, we do a great deal of wedding choreography to help couples prepare for the all-important first dance as husband and wife.  Finally, we host the occasional ballroom dance cruise and we've had the pleasure of cruising and dancing with many of you over the years.

Thank you again for visiting our website.  Should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions for future classes, please don't hesitate to contact us:
